Gaming chairs have somewhat of a bad reputation overall and in my opinion that is unfortunate – simply because it’s not true in my experience. The problem lies here, the cheap gaming chairs are bad, really bad. These chairs try to lure in the casual gamers and parents by adding “gaming” into their name and overall they’re just cheap, uncomforable plastic junk. Once you try out a quality gaming chair that has thick cushioning, is feature packed and made out of solid materials only then can you see that gaming chairs can actually be fantastic for prolonged periods of sitting. But here lies another problem, the Autofull M6 like many other quality gaming chairs are expensive with this one coming in at $699-$799 depending on sales they are running. Most gamers would opt to not buy the fancy gaming chair and instead invest some of the savings back into their gaming PC and bump themselves up to the next tier of CPU or GPU for a better gaming experience. If you do fancy a quality gaming chair, let’s dive into the Autofull M6.
Unboxing and Assembly
Pretty standard unboxing and assembly process here, when you first open the box you get the instructions on top and the rest of the parts neatly packaged below. You get the backrest, seat, arm rests and bottom assembly all put together already and then you have a bag of parts that includes all the screws, allen wrenches and screwdrivers that you’ll need. I still opt for using my own tools as you can imagine the ones they include will get the job done but aren’t the best.
To assemble it only took maybe 15 or so minutes with the provided instructions. First snap the wheels on to the bottom assembly, attach the seat bottom to the wheels, attach the armrests to the bottom and then use the provided bolts to connect that backrest to the rest of the chair. After putting together many different gaming and ergonomic chairs, the experience was pretty on par with the rest. I will say the screw holes were all aligned properly and you can tell that this chair was designed pretty well, I had no issues aligning anything up during the assembly process.
Build Quality and Comfort
The Autofull M6 is built out of some quality materials, which you would hope it would be if you were paying six to seven hundred dollars for a gaming chair. It uses steel reinforcment in the seat which helps with support and durability while some other chairs commonly resort to wood particle board. The feet are made of nylon which help sturdiness, you get leather that covers the whole chair and a nitrogen-based gas strut that allows for easy adjustability. While building it you definitely get the feeling that its made decent and I will say that the box it came in was just a tad heavy to get downstairs into my office – nothing these nerdy midwestern Dad arms couldn’t handle.
When we jump into comfort, while using it for the last month or so I have had no issues during long gaming or editing sessions. The cushioning is very comfortable, its not thin and this is absolutely one of the most critical parts of any office or gaming chair. It’s firm but just the right amount, you dont have to worry that in two weeks of sitting on it’s going to fall flat like your old unfluffed pillow you probably should have replaced a few years ago. It does come with the detachable head pillow which is made of some sort of memory foam material which I find very comfortable and it always feels cool when I finally lean back and snap myself out of the gamer, tilted forward position I find myself in way to much.
Features
This is where the M6 really shines and I have to start with this right off that bat as its the main selling point of this chair – built in heat and a/c. I thought it sounded pretty ridiculous at first and it still does actually after typing this out but it works surpisingly well. On the base of the chair you have two buttons, 1 for heat and 1 for a/c. Each one has 3 different levels and it works great, on the highest mode the airflow is enough where it truly does cool off the nether regions. With it being summer I haven’t tested the heat more than a few minutes but it works and it works good, I will definitely be trying it during the cold Wisconsin winters. I will say the system for this feature is a bit flawed, in order to use it you have a usb-a cable that runs off the chair and how I chose to do this is just plug it into a rechargable portable battery and tuck it out of site in the back of chair. Otherwise you could plug it into a power block and plug it into the wall or a power strip but then you have to worry about moving around running the cable over and damaging it or pulling it out, just kind of inconvenient now matter how you look at it. That said, the feature does work well so I can’t knock it to much.
Another great feature is the 6D armrests, these allow you to move on more than one axis so that you have enhanced comfort and functionality. One of the main reasons I love this feature is that I play Old School Runescape every so often, mostly doing my daily herb runs (shoutout to Homeland Clan) on mobile so tilting the armrests up to a 45ish degree angle allows my arms to rest in the perfect position for mobile gaming. The backrest is also upgraded, in most gaming chairs you see a fixed pillow which does not accomodate different sittings positions. The M6 uses a flexible waist tracking module that actually will adjust to the users sitting habits, can’t say I have seen that in a gaming chair before. Of course you have the option to tilt, the M6 allows you to go back 160 degrees and can accomodate gamers of all sizes up to around 330lbs. I unfortunately don’t know what that equals to in KG for my none american folks but for now we’ll just be using freedom units. If you’re looking for a feature packed chair the M6 won’t let you down in that department, another cool fact is Autofull has a trusted reputation and even sponsored Gordon Hayward and the Rogue eSports team.
Conclusion
In summary, the AutoFull M6 Gaming Chair defies common misconceptions by offering exceptional comfort, durability, and innovative features. Unlike cheap gaming chairs, the M6 stands out with its high-quality materials, straightforward assembly, and robust design. Comfort-wise, the thick cushioning and memory foam head pillow provide excellent support for long gaming or work sessions. The main feature and selling point is its built-in heating and cooling system, which, despite its slightly inconvenient power setup, works really well. The 6D armrests and flexible waist tracking module add another level of customization and support for all body types. While the price of $699-$799 may be pretty steep, the AutoFull M6 proves to be a worthy investment for those seeking a premium seating experience for work or play.
